"Why fictionalised biographies are ok for children if more problematic for adults. The reason why we think this is a great book for children is that it allows them to glimpse the experiences of people elsewhere, experiences they themselves may not thankfully have to endure. Also, Roy writes with infectious lightness, despite the darkness of the subject matter. We think we know a lot of kids who would get an almighty kick out of this."
