Theodor Seuss Geisel, known all over the world by his pen name Dr. Seuss, was an acclaimed illustrator and author who published more than 60 children's books over the course of his career. It's no surprise that Read Across America Day, a nationwide celebration that encourages children to read, is observed on his birthday.
We asked Dr. Seuss fans on Twitter and Facebook for their favorite quotes. Below is a list of your beloved Seuss-isms. If you have a favorite Dr. Seuss quote that you would like to include, make sure to share it with us!
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
“You’re off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so…get on your way!”
“Don't give up, I believe in you all. A person's, a person, no matter how small.”
