Calling all book worms: It's time to pick the best books of 2017 in the 9th annual Goodreads Choice Awards. It's the only major book awards decided by you, the readers!
All year long, we've been tracking what new books readers are loving. We use this data to compile the lucky 15 top-rated books across 20 categories.
Starting today, we want you to pick your favorite book in each of the categories including Fiction, Historical Fiction, Mystery & Thriller, Young Adult Fiction, Romance, Science Fiction, Nonfiction, and Debut Goodreads Author. If you don't see your favorite book in a category, we also accept write-in votes…but only during the Opening Round!
There are three rounds of voting. The Opening Round lasts until November 5; your votes now determine the Semifinal contenders. Be sure to tell your friends and followers how you voted (and see if your they agree with your choices) by sharing your picks on social media with the hashtag #GoodreadsChoice.
Opening Round (October 31 until November 5)
Click on the Goodreads Choice Awards page and start voting! You can vote for one of the 15 nominees in each category or write-in a book of your choice. A heads up: Only books released between November 16, 2016 and November 15, 2017 can be considered.
Semifinal Round (November 7 until November 12)
In this round, you'll choose a book from 20 nominees in each category. These books will be the 15 nominees from the Opening Round plus the top five write-ins.
Final Round (November 14 until November 27)
It's the final countdown! After the Semifinal Round has whittled down the competition, you'll vote for one of the 10 top nominees in each category.
The winners are announced on December 5
